The day you file your bankruptcy, the Court imposes what is referred to as the Automatic Stay. The Automatic stay is like a shield of protection from creditor collection action.

Creditors are not permitted to garnish wages, levy bank accounts, intercept tax refunds, bring or even continue a lawsuit related to a debt, and are not supposed to send you billing statements or call you to request money. If creditors violate the Stay (which is rare) call a paralegal or attorney at Keller & Almassian, PLC immediately.
